Short Haired Babe Of The Week Aug 13th is....

The Pixie Revolution has it's newest member...

Ok your all probably wondering what took me so long to post this week's
Short Haired Babe Of The Week.
Besides making an extensive post announcing my wife's next haircut appointment and the multiple possiblities on how she will get it cut, I was planning and collecting a little more pics to round out my post on this weeks Short haired babe.
I had tons of current pics and needed to find some pics of her earlier days.

But while I was doing all this I hopped on twitter for a few seconds and was looking at some of the newsfeed tweets on the Olympic's Closing Ceramonies and saw a few retweets of a celebrity I dont follow on twitter who basically made me stop in my tracks leaving my jaw dropped wide open.
This celebrity basically trumped my originally planned short haired babe of the week.
So enough of talking in suspense and riddles.
Here's the deal.

Jenna Elfman was scheduled to be my Short Haired Babe Of The Week.
That is until I hopped onto twitter to read about The Who and The Spice Girls performances at the Olympics Closing Ceramonies only to see the twitter world a buzz with retweet after retweet that Miley Cyrus has shocked the world by cutting all her hair off into a......
You guessed right if you said a new generation pixie.
Bleached blonde and all.

Now I have young children under 10 and because of this have been well aware of Miley Cyrus for about 5 years now.
Never really gave her much thought.  I know the younger guys think she's hot, hell even some 30 something guys think she's hot.
Me being in my mid 30's never really put alot of thought into whether Miley Cyrus is hot or not.
Maybe because I first saw her as a teen star on Disney, and maybe because she has had long hair.

Well I can firmly say Miley's shocking new haircut has made me look at her a bit differently on this mid August night.

Not in my wildest imagination would I think Miley Cyrus would chop all her hair off.
And to be quite frank I couldnt have come up with a better pick or better results even if I had featured her in a Wish They'd Cut It Short  post.
Miley for whatever reason, (mostly I would presume is to distance herself from her younger Disney Hanna Montana era) has cut her hair into the kind of pixie that you would see on this very blog.
This cut has it all, bleached blonde, sweeping bangs, sharp lines and what looks like to be a side buzz.
I dont claim to be the first to break this story, but other then twitter, I might very well be one of the first in the hair enthusiast world.
One can only hope she keeps it this way for a while.
What's really exciting is how much of a big star she is and because of how many female fans she has she will surely cause a copycat surge in this kind of cut.
Well enough of my rambling.

The Pixie Revolution just got a young, really big name joining it's ranks.

Without further ado...

  1. Mac and "The Pixie Revolution",

You are the man! And you are about 7 hours ahead of me with this (but 3 of those 7 hours are time zone hours). I got to the computer at 8am (West Coast time) and scanned the AOL news summary only to see the headline tease at Music.AOL that Miley Cyrus had done a radical cut.

    See (http://blog.music.aol.com/2012/08/13/miley-cyrus-cuts-hair/?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl11%7Csec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D191544)

It included SOME of photos that Mac shows above. Mac, thanks for breaking the news to the hair web site world and welcoming Miley to our small group. It proves what we should adopt as our motto "Go short to get noticed".

At Music.AOL there is a poll that all short hair enthusiast should visit and run up the votes for the NEW short Miley cut. As of this morning we are loosing. Here is what the question is and then current vote:

Say what you want about Miley Cyrus, but the girl is definitely not boring! Over the weekend (Aug. 12), the former Disney darling shocked even her most diehard fans when she posted photos on her Twitter account of a dramatic new 'do. In the shots, Miley shows off a shockingly short pixie cut with a buzzed side. "Never felt more me in my whole life," Miley tweeted after posting. "Someone just told me im prettier than Miley Cyrus." Naturally, the singer's new look drew criticism from many on the web, to which Cyrus replied: "my dad @billyraycyrus used to tell me "opinions are are like ass holes every body has one" LOVE my hair. feel so happy, pretty, and free."

What do you think of Miley's new 'do? Vote below!

Do You Like Miley's New Haircut?
Yes, it totally suits her wild personality! 1344 (21.7%)
It's OK, but she looked better before. 1473 (23.8%)
    Ugh, I hate it! 3383 (54.6%)

  2. Mac,

Also, it's going to be great to follow her now and get to see some professional event and red carpet photos (as well as cover shots on the "Short Hair Magazines) of Miley and her NEW haircut. It will be all the buzz for a while. Can we depend on you to find all those photos and be our go to resource for all things (photos) Miley?

    1. Perfect Cut,
      Great comments.
Saw the poll, unfortunatley the "I hate it" got 54% of the vote.
As of Monday night Miley has added 3 new pics including a nape and left side view of the cut.
I will definetly keep everyone posted.
She's already gotten alot of attention. Even local news stations are covering the story under People Watch. She also has gotte backlash from twitter follower, who are critizing her, like rapper Tyler The Creator, who said sh should fire her barber. It's igonrant statments like that really urk me.
Why is the second a woman cuts their hair short people have to make nasty comments. I think it takes a confident woman who knows she is attracive to wear short hair. People shouldnt be knocking her.

    2. It really bugs me too when someone makes comments like that. Seems every time Mrs 222 does something with her hair some ass makes a stupid comment like that and its like that is the only one she remembers. Then it takes forever to get her back on track.

  4. I'm not a Miley Cyrus follower on Twitter, but both of my daughters are. I was curious when my 20 year old re-tweeted Miley's post of an emoticon getting a haircut and an emoticon with short blond hair. It was then that I saw her new cut. Shortly afterwards, my 16 year old tweeted "OMG! I want @MileyCirus new hair, but my mom will kill me if I cut mine. Ahh teenage angst. Good to see Miley is enjoying it

  5. After posting my last comment, it suddenly hit me.

    Miley Cirus got a Pixie,
    Miley has millions of fans,
Girls,( like my daugher ) want to be like her

So it seems the pixie might become the hottest cut of 2012

For s hot as the bob has been, it seesm to be loosing it's spark, as the Pixie has become hot

So it seems Mac is right. This is a Pixie Revolution!

    1. You make great points Enzo,
I too at first thought because of all the female fans Miley has she is going to cause alot of girls to get copycat cuts.
Then i'm seeing all the backlash and hate she is getting from some people on twitter and think maybe I'm wrong.
I think you will get fans that really like her hair copying her and people who arent really fans that will see it and use her pics to get the cut, but it's hard to say if she will cause alot of women to run out and get a pixie like Twiggy or Mia Farrow did in the 60's.
The thing is even though you might not see as many angled bobs as we have in say 2009, the bob in any variation is a timeless classic look. It will never completely go out of style. Back in 09' much to my delight I was seeing on average 3-4 angled bobs with buzzed napes A DAY! here in Southeastern PA. Now If im lucky I will see a few in a good week total. That being said, i havent seen in the suburbs where I live hardly any new generation pixies. My wife is one of the few. Go into the city of Philadelphia though ( an hour east) and we see them alot. Almost every couple of blocks you'll see one. Pixies are timeless too, but up until 3 years ago I wasnt a big fan of what the pixie had to offer. It's come a long way. I never liked the uber short bangs and wispy sides that the older generation pixies had. In a perfect world I would like to see the angled bob become a short hair style mainstay and never go away and the new generation pixies like Miley, Jenna Elfman and my wife have become more popular and reach the popularity height the angled bob had a few years back. Only time will tell though...
